Cover Art Reveal!

So this is really happening! Did you think I was pulling your leg when I told you I wrote a book?
This process, at times, has been overwhelming. Just when Beau and Sadie disappear from my mind, they pop back up again in cover art, edits and proofreading.
This first draft of the cover arrived last week along with the first draft of the manuscript in book format. I opened the file to the cover art and took in a deep breath.
I had given the art department the basics and told them that I "saw" the characters in an embrace and that I also wanted a little boy and his dog, a white English bulldog on the cover. Finally, since the book is set in Nashville, I "suggested" a city backdrop that resembled Nashville.
This is what I got!
It's like they read my mind... no wait, they read the book. How did they know that I described Sadie as having an A-line bob?! They knew because they took time to read the first few chapters to create something way beyond my expectations.
My only minor critique and I do mean minor, would be that Beau and Sadie appear to be younger than described in the book, but I can live with it. It's somewhat of a marketing tool in that if someone picks up the book and sees two "older" people on the cover, would it have the same appeal? This book isn't just for "mature" audiences. I think it covers the bigger "chick lit" romance genre.
I spent my weekend re-reading the book and updating a few editing mistakes. It's back with the publisher for the second round of editing.
The cover art got a thumbs up so at least that part is behind me.
I'll keep you posted, but I think we are still looking at another 2-3 weeks until the book is officially sent off to the printer.
Much love,
Stacy
